Peter Fulton has become the latest head coach tasked with the job of reviving Middlesex’s fortunes.

Since being relegated from Division One of the County Championship in 2017, the Seaxes have spent just one season in the domestic game’s top flight (2023), a campaign which ended with immediate demotion.

Over the same period, there have been two appearances in the One-Day Cup knockout stages and a solitary T20 Blast quarter-final in white-ball cricket amidst much struggle, especially with regard to the shorter format.

Add to that the club’s current well-publicised financial struggles and that’s quite an in-tray then for the 47-year-old former New Zealand Test batter to inherit.
