News last week Ryan Higgins would be side-lined for two months was just about the last thing Middlesex fans wanted to hear.
The Zimbabwean-born all-rounder has hardly missed a game in any format since returning to Middlesex for a second spell from Gloucestershire in 2022, so to lose such a pivotal member of the side for a swathe of the campaign to a wrist injury felt like desperate news.
