Are there positives in Middlesex's T20 campaign so far?

Middlesex have 'positives' to take forward into the rest of the Vitality Blast, according to all-rounder Luke Hollman - so what should or shouldn't give him cause for optimism?

As Luke Hollman acknowledges, ‘we’re not far off’ can be a common refrain from the Middlesex camp whenever the team become ensnared in a losing streak in T20 cricket.

The Seaxes’ Vitality Blast campaign began last weekend with defeats at Lord’s to Kent and then Surrey, leaving them joint bottom of the South Group as they head to Hove to take on Sussex on Saturday.

“We ran them close,” said Hollman, reflecting on the low-scoring Surrey game in which his unbeaten 35 was Middlesex’s best effort with the bat. “Surrey will have been thinking – on another day, we could very easily lose that game.

“It’s frustrating, small margins, which is of course a common theme in T20 cricket. We’re not far off – and I know that’s always said by us in in this competition, but I think there is progress.
