Sam Robson has called on his Middlesex teammates to be frontrunners from the off in this season’s County Championship Division Two race.

The Seaxes’ season curtain-raiser with Gloucestershire, beginning on Good Friday, marks the start of six red-ball games in seven weeks.

It will bring the Championship to the verge of the halfway mark and it is a period which can dictate the path of a county’s season.

Start well and you’re in a position to dictate terms; start badly and you can find yourself at the mercy of other results and the vagaries of the weather at the back end of the campaign in September.
