Sam Robson has urged Josh de Caires to ‘hang in there’ and says his opening partner’s endeavour at the wicket will soon be rewarded with a sizeable score.
De Caires has endured a series of low returns since the start of the season, registering 64 from six innings so far after being dismissed for eight in Middlesex’s County Championship game against Durham.
But Robson, whose knock of 87 underpinned the Seaxes’ total of 272-6 on the first day at Lord’s, said: “I know myself, opening the batting is mighty difficult and tough work at times when you’re out there against the new ball.
