Sebastian Morgan declared himself grateful for some assistance from the Old Trafford pitch on day one of Middlesex’s Rothesay County Championship clash with Lancashire at Old Trafford.

The Seaxes’ teenage speedster has toiled away on slow, generally batting friendly pitches at Lord’s during the early season, with last week’s strip in the draw with Durham particularly unresponsive.

So he was delighted Old Trafford lived up to its reputation for encouraging pace and he exploited some lateral movement too in taking 3-41 as the hosts were bowled out for 201.
