Middlesex captain Leus du Plooy has no plans to gamble with a generous declaration against Northamptonshire and risk a repeat of last season’s final-day disappointment at Wantage Road.
Du Plooy was part of the Seaxes side, albeit not yet skipper, when they invited their hosts to chase 311 for victory in 73 overs on the last day of their County Championship clash in 2025 – and ended up comfortably beaten.
