Unbeaten centurion Max Holden says he had plenty of faith in Zafar Gohar after their seventh-wicket partnership hauled Middlesex back into contention on the second day against Kent.
The Seaxes’ task of chalking off their follow-on target of 267 at Canterbury was looking increasingly forlorn when they slumped to 47-4 and then, following a fightback from Holden and Joe Cracknell, 159-6.
However, Gohar’s alliance with his fellow left-hander has more than doubled the visitors’ first-innings tally so far and they were able to reduce the deficit to single figures, reaching stumps on 319-6.
