Blast in the Past: Middlesex v Surrey

Runs were often hard to come by on a slow Lord’s pitch, but Max Holden and Adam Rossington built an opening stand of 37 before Middlesex lost a cluster of wickets and stumbled to 65-5.

Luke Hollman batted through with an unbeaten 35 from 28 balls and some big shots by Eathan Bosch in the last few overs lifted the Seaxes to 143-8. That looked light – but less so when Surrey struggled in their own batting powerplay.

Tom Helm picked up two wickets and, having reduced the visitors to 56-4 just after halfway, Middlesex were very much in contention – only for Sam Curran and Laurie Evans to forge an unbroken partnership of 88 and finish the game with nine balls unused.
