Blast in the Past: Kent v Middlesex

Having launched their Vitality Blast campaign by losing to Kent Spitfires, Middlesex rounded it off by reversing the result to ensure they avoided finishing bottom of the group. Or, if you want to stretch a point, technically joint fourth out of six.

Put in at Canterbury, the visitors failed to build substantial partnerships, although Ben Geddes walloped a few leg-side sixes in his 32 from 21 balls and – not for the first time – it was left to Luke Hollman to steer them towards a defendable total.

Hollman and Eathan Bosch shared an unbroken stand of 52 to lift Middlesex to 172-6, but Daniel Bell-Drummond’s 47 from 34 seemed the ideal platform for the Spitfires to chase that down until the spinners intervened.
