Middlesex should count their blessings that Hundred franchises overlooked Naavya Sharma and enabled the young seamer to play a starring role in 50-over cricket, according to team-mate Luke Hollman.

Sharma climbed to third on the list of wicket-takers in this year’s Metro Bank One-Day Cup on Friday, with 15 to his name overall after an impressive 4-46 helped to set up Middlesex’s tense final-over victory at Durham at Chester-le-Street.

While the 20-year-old has caught the eye across all formats this summer, his 50-over performances have been a key factor in Middlesex’s ascent to the top of Group B with five wins from six.
