Departing all-rounder Eathan Bosch may have overdone his efforts to be successful as a Middlesex player, admits head coach Peter Fulton.

The 28-year-old finished his four-month spell with the Seaxes by top-scoring with what may yet prove a valuable unbeaten 43 in the first innings of their ongoing County Championship game against Kent at Merchant Taylors’ School.

However, Bosch – who has been called up by South Africa for their T20I tour of Namibia, beginning at the end of next week, was then withdrawn from the game after sustaining a blow on his left elbow during that innings.

Left-arm seamer Noah Cornwell was approved as an injury replacement by match referee Wayne Noon – who was then sought out by Kent head coach Adam Hollioake to query the decision.
