Middlesex match-winner Zafar Gohar credited skipper Leus du Plooy for a ‘big moment’ that laid the foundations for victory at Worcestershire and lifted them to fourth place in County Championship Division Two.
Left-arm spinner Gohar stifled the Worcestershire batting on the final day at New Road, chalking up maidens in 12 of his 23 overs and finishing with season’s best figures of 6-31 as the Seaxes triumphed by 141 runs.
However, he was keen to highlight the role played by Middlesex’s batters the previous day – particularly Du Plooy, whose undefeated 101 enabled a declaration that put the Pears under pressure.
