Jubilant Middlesex head coach Peter Fulton tipped Naavya Sharma for ‘a big future’ after his whirlwind spell of four wickets in 10 balls paved the way for victory against Lancashire at Old Trafford.
The 20-year-old quick made a decisive impact on the third morning of a tense, low-scoring game, coming on to bowl with the home side 109 in front and removing Matty Hurst and Tom Hartley with successive deliveries.
Operating in tandem with teenager Sebastian Morgan, Sharma then dismissed Tom Bailey and Chris Green to wrap up Lancashire’s second innings for 84, recording career-best figures of 4-17 after Ryan Higgins and Toby Roland-Jones had taken 4-27 and 2-20 respectively.
