A self-effacing Josh De Caires brushed off List-A career-bests with bat and ball in Middlesex’s 160-run drubbing of Hampshire in the Metro Bank One-Day Cup as ‘just one of those days.’
If that’s the case, the London-born right-hander will certainly want more such ‘days’ after hitting 75 with the bat before bewitching the host batters with his off-spin to the tune of 6-35.
It marks an upturn in fortune for De Caires, who lost his place in the Championship side earlier in the campaign after a run of low scores and who save for an unbeaten 80 against Sussex, also struggled in the Blast.
