Who can forget that sultry September evening, the drama of a winner takes all scenario and the moment Toby Roland-Jones’ hat-trick sealed Middlesex’s first County Championship title for 23 years?

Almost a decade on, we revisit that glorious 2016 campaign – the culmination of a gradual progression for the Seaxes as they eventually dethroned back-to-back champions Yorkshire in that thrilling climax at Lord’s.

Let’s discuss the 2016 title decider against Yorkshire at Lord’s – would you say it almost evolved into a game of chess on that final day?
