The seam bowlers stole the limelight against Gloucestershire – but spinner Zafar Gohar also merits a share of praise for his role in Middlesex’s triumph at Lord’s, says head coach Peter Fulton.
Toby Roland-Jones’ five-wicket haul set the tone in Gloucestershire’s first innings, supported by Naavya Sharma’s 2-39, while Sebastian Morgan (4-48) and Ryan Higgins (3-18) came to the fore as the visitors were rolled over for 215 second time around.
However, former Gloucestershire left-armer Gohar churned through a total of 52.3 overs across both innings, building pressure before dismissing last man Gabe Bell to seal the Seaxes’ success by an innings and 14 runs.
“Obviously the seam bowlers had a big workload,” said Fulton. “I’m pleased that, touch wood, everybody seems to have pulled through OK and we’ve got a couple of days to rest up and get ready for the next one.
