Maia Bouchier came and went, so did Sophia Dunkley – but Middlesex are optimistic that the days of talented female cricketers departing to nurture their international ambitions elsewhere will soon be at an end.
The county are on track to open their new, dedicated headquarters for women’s and girls’ cricket at Swyncombe Avenue playing fields, Boston Manor, later this year with a view to staging matches in 2027.
Ownership of a separate base specifically designated to grow the women’s game will, they believe, help Middlesex to secure Tier One status when it expands to 12 teams over the next few years.
On the field, meanwhile, the team did plenty to strengthen their candidacy during 2025 – winning the inaugural Vitality Blast Women’s League Two trophy with nine victories from 10 games, culminating in a 10-wicket thrashing of Yorkshire in the final.
