Joe Cracknell established a blueprint for the rest of Middlesex’s batters to follow in defeat to Worcestershire, according to skipper Leus du Plooy.
The Seaxes wicketkeeper batter was left high and dry on 43 not out having battled to the bitter end as the hosts failed to chase down a victory target of 262 on what proved to be the third and final day at Lord’s.
Despite some clear evidence of uneven bounce, especially when facing at the Nursey End, du Plooy felt it was a target his men should have reached, but ultimately they fell short in a week where none of the top six made 50 in either innings.
And while expressing faith in his batting unit, he called on them to show more against Northamptonshire in the game starting on Friday.
