Cracknell and Duke might play together, says Middlesex coach

Joe Cracknell could feature in the same team as fellow wicketkeeper Harry Duke next season after the Yorkshireman’s permanent move to Middlesex was confirmed last week.

Cracknell has been the county’s first-choice keeper in all formats since midway through the 2025 season, but two separate finger injuries this summer prompted Duke’s arrival on loan from Yorkshire.

The 25-year-old’s performances in the County Championship – as well as the Metro Bank One-Day Cup final success against Leicestershire – convinced the Seaxes to offer him a two-year contract.

However, Cracknell spent the early part of his career as a specialist batter and Middlesex head coach Peter Fulton, asked whether he and Duke could operate together, said: “Yes, I think they could.
